Bear Valley Lodge is located on the remote and beautiful northwest coast of Prince of Wales Island in the calm and sheltered waters of El Capitan Pass. Travel to the lodge is easy starting with only a short Alaska Airlines flight from Seattle to Ketchikan.
In Ketchikan, grab your duffle bag and climb aboard the float plane. Two minutes later your on your way to the wilderness aboard a sturdy Alaskan float plane soaring and dipping with the eagles. All you can see for miles are snow capped mountains, trees and crystal clear waters. Its time to leave the crowds, cruise ships, strip malls and rat race behind. There's not even a single traffic light on the whole island.
Before you know it, you touch down at the dock. The dockhand grabs your gear and you know you have arrived. Ready for the trip of a lifetime.
Bear Valley Lodge is a sport fishing lodge in the traditional sense. Our claim to fame is our spectacular location. Our location and setting is unequalled on Prince of Wales Island. Calm serene waters, seldom riled by waves are the rule at the lodge. Bears ambling through the grounds along with deer grazing on the beach are as much the norm at Bear Valley Lodge as the sound traffic that you left behind at home.
After settling in to your private cabin and getting a quick bite to eat, you and your guide are off in one of our high speed and comforatable guide boats to chase the big ones! Choose to fish for salmon, halibut, lingcod or a host of other bottom fish with new high quality tackle and equipment.
Upon your return to the lodge that evening, your crew cleans and packs your fish while you enjoy a hot shower, a cocktail and tasty hors'dovours. Dinner in served in our dining room, maybe a game of cards to cap the day and then off to your cabin and comfy bed to dream about the big one that didnt get away!
Early the next morning after a hearty breakfast you head out after'em again! An so goes a trip to Bear Valley Lodge.

Following acquisition by Wild Alaska Cruises llc, Bear Valley is undergoing an extensive renovation and upgrade of its existing facilities and services. New guide boats, equipment, staff and packages adorn the place that local Alaskans know as the best location on Prince of Wales Island.
